Timewarp Records opened it's door's in 1988. Owner Steven Fahey has been working in the music retail industry since the early 70's and was owner of famous Sydney independent music store "The Record Plant (1974-1988)". Timewarp has been operating since 1988, originally a large specialist retail outlet who for the first few years saw famed Australian music historian Glenn A. Baker as a partner in the store. During the 90's Martin Carr joined the team and before long Steve & Martin had decided to part ways with their much loved store and direct their energies towards and internet only business. Martin brings a life of playing music to the store. His father was also a musician who played with Ray Brown & Moonstone, Richard Clapton, Lindsay Bjerre (Tamam Shud) & Tony Hamilton (Pirana) just to name a few. Martin has worked in the Sydney music scene for over twenty years playing in many underground bands including Wolfgang, Christ Art Museum & Guilding The Lily. In more recent years he has started his own record label "Rizz Records" and has worked in event management most recently on the annual Sydney Desert Sessions show. In more recent years Martin has also been involved in promoting the Glebe Record Fair, The Northern Beaches Record Fair and also the Cronulla Record Fair.
Timewarp carries both NEW and USED vinyl, as well as an extensive range of CDs, DVDs and music reference books. We have our own online auctions, of rare and out-of-print vinyl, every six months. We specialise in music from the 50s through to the 90s, in all genres EXCEPT classical. Our main specialty is, however, music by Australian and New Zealand artists. Our range is second to none.
